Balancing the need for portability and gaming power is getting easier and easier these days with a slew of new gaming laptops and accessories, including the Alienware Graphics Amplifier, making that previously difficult balance attainable. As games continue to evolve and become more graphically demanding you’re often left feeling like you’re trailing behind the optimal visual experience you would like to be enjoying. Add to that the introduction of VR and 4K gaming and you’ll quickly run into some limitations as to what your current setup can support. Portability is also a major factor for those of us always on the move, nowadays we no longer need to sacrifice portability for gaming capability.

The idea of external graphics accelerators isn’t new, but what makes the Alineware Graphics Amplifier ideal for gamers is that it includes a 460 watts internal power supply unit capable of running the most demanding of graphics cards smoothly as well as its direct hardware connection to your machine. The Alienware Graphics Amplifier’s technology uses a direct hardware connection, as opposed to Thunderbolt 3 technology which is based on a platform with shared bandwidth

AW Amplifiers

Alienware’s amplifier will never share, or compromise, the bandwidth to your system’s GPU. What this means is that you’re getting reserved high bandwidth directly to your system’s GPU with one unique cable connection. Alienware Graphics Amplifier utilizes four lanes of dedicated PCIe Gen 3. The Thunderbolt 3 specification is capable of either two or four lanes of PCIe depending on the OEM’s implementation of Intel’s technology. Alienware gains an advantage by having these lanes dedicated to graphics that are not shared by LAN, USB or display ports.

You will also be able to engage your sense by setting triggers, morphing lights from one color to the next, and making your system glow and blink in tandem with the game – all made possible with ability to customize your lighting theme via Alienware Command Center.

The Alienware Graphics Amplifier was designed with the future in mind. You can easily upgrade your graphics cards in the future. The design can support full-length, double-wide, PCI-Express x16 graphics cards – so you can take advantage of the graphics performance increase without having to upgrade your entire system. This is ideal for those of us who have powerful current generation systems and want to ensure we get the best value out of them for years to come. Upgrading graphic cards without upgrading our entire laptops.
